R/C flight simulators can be a huge benefit or big hindrance while learning to fly.
We've put together  a few suggestions that apply to all r/c flight simulators on the
 market.

FACT: Bad habits developed with your flight simulator  will follow you to the
flying field!

Major points that we suggest you consider

  • Don't use the R/C flight simulator  for more than an hour.

  • I know it's a huge temptation, but practice with a plane similar to
what you to fly at the field.  Please don't try flying anything else until you solo!!

  • Do everything you can, NOT to crash on the R/C flight simulator!

  • Keep your fingers on the sticks, do not "snap" the sticks.

  • Keep the R/C plane straight during takeoff

  • Keep the R/C plane at an altitude so the horizon is visible at all times.

  • Keep the climb out shallow after takeoff.

  • Make your turns smooth and keep a constant alititude by using the elevator.

  • BUMP the aileron control, so that the wing moves like a ratchet!
(hold the BUMP long enough for the wing to barely move. Need more? Do it again)

  • Did you BUMP the wrong away, no problem BUMP back the opposite direction twice.

  • If you method of holding the sticks is a "thumber", keep the fat pad, that area below
your thumb on the controller's two bottom corners.  When you support your thumbs
     control is increased dramatically.

  • Use the throttle!

  • Learn the signs of that a plane is stalling! Nose down and / or increase throttle to recovery

Other Suggestions that will help you get the most out your R/C flight simulator

  • Fly from the cockpit view.  Your fingers and brain will "connect" much
    quicker on the "sticks".

  • Choose and fly one "airport".  My airport of choice is the "Fun Fly"
    on the RealFlight G3.

  • Find landmarks that will get you aligned up with the runway.

  • It is not necessary to land on the runway in the beginning,  just land successfully,
    anywhere.

  • Practice landing with about 1-2 clicks of throttle.

  • Take off and land, Take off and land and when you are sick of it, do it again!

  • Fly EVERY day for at least 30 minutes.

  • Fly at 1/2 throttle or less and trim the airplane!

  • Use the TRIM tabs!  (Those little slide buttons along side the sticks).  If
the plane's nose keeps dropping and you have to keep back pressure on the right
stick, move the trim tab next to right stick in the same direction as pressure is
    being applied)

  • When you fly, keep the plane parallel with the runway and make 90 degree turns.
This is call flying the pattern, will very important to a success full landing.

About Your Computer

  • Before you buy your R/C flight simulator  check the "preferred" requirements for the
computer!  Do not try to get by with the minimum standards, you won't be happy.

  • If possible use a laptop for your R/C flight simulator.  You can practice anywhere!!
